My Mother's Day gift from Pete and Lou was raised beds. They built them using reclaimed lumber, from the old fence that used to form a pen of sorts next to the barn. Because the wood was pressure-treated we can't grow anything to eat in there....so obviously we should have flowers!
Going to get soil and peat moss (please notice the bling)
The beds, filled with dirt! This one is near the apple tree.
This one is under the maple.
Ready for planting
Charlotte (scarlet) Begonias
New hydrangea
Teeny marguerite daisies
The part-shade bed, under the maple. The begonias are there with the hydrangea, and there's space to add more plants.
The full-sun bed, near the apple tree. The marguerite daisies are there with some gerbera daisies, a salvia and a few plants we transplanted from the circular stone bed.
So far, all of the plants seem to be digging their new homes. And Lou and I have pretty flowers to take care of.
