Not yet!

I've gathered up the last shreds of the silence this morning and am hoarding them, jealously guarding them, keeping them to myself. No, you may not have them, they are mine. If I sit here quietly with my coffee....I might be able to write and read my book for a little bit! Perhaps not.

4 more days of chaos till vacation, which of course means that the list of Stuff I chip away at day in and day out has to be gone (more or less) by Friday. Somehow, though, I opted to take the girl on a long walk before dinner last night, and to read until I fell asleep instead of working. Now that's progress!

It's been so beautiful out, even on the windy days, I just don't want to miss anything. In no particular order I have been soaking up vitamin D, making plans for my garden, having cocktails outside, playing wiffle ball, sleeping, opening windows in my house and then shutting them again before the heat kicks on.

no pork, thank you

Charlotte: Don't buy any pork for me at the farmer's market, Mama, because I just don't like it. I won't eat it, so don't get me any.

Me: But you like sausage. Sausage is made from pork. You also like bacon.

C: Well, bacon and sausage, but that's it.

Me: What about ham? Don't you like ham?

C: Okay, ham, and sausage and bacon. But that's it. That's the only kind of pork I like. You better write that down, Mama, so you don't forget.

Me: Uh, okay. I will remember.

C: Write it down! ....what kind of animal does pork comes from?

Easter weekend

Slow start to the long weekend fun, what with the housecleaning and all. But THEN, there was:

Homemade pizza (chicken and roasted red pepper)
Picnic in Prescott Park with some Nasons!

Barbecue Easter in Providence

Such a good good weekend....just perfect.

6 am

This is how early I need to be awake to find any time for writing (or the treadmill, or reading, for that matter). It's actually kind of nice today- the gathering dawn is gray out there, but I'm curled up here in the warm glow of one lamp.

Today I will need to go with the flow. Follow the to-do list, in order, but be flexible. There's always something on fire- or, that needs immediate attention- so why allow sudden change to derail the day or the mood? It's only work.

Last night I left work early-ish for me on a Tuesday...I stopped just over the bridge to take pictures of the dusky world around me.

Maybe today there will be more sunshine. But no matter. Here are five things I plan for today:
  • A productive day at work, without drama.
  • Time with the family tonight- dinner with the girl, seeing the man when he gets home.
  • Some house stuff (laundry, tidying of piles...). Leaving it all for the weekend just puts a damper on a few days off.
  • Working on Lou's sweater.
  • Early bedtime, for once.
  • Keep looking around....spring is everywhere!
