Fun with the Lou, the Boo and the Moo

Yesterday Ella and Molly came to visit us. They made cookies with us (gingerbread, at Lou's request) and stayed for lunch and through the afternoon.

There was princess dress-up too...the third princess insisted on staying upstairs.
After lunch we played hide-and-seek and tag, and drew with chalk....lots of fun. I was missing my NoBer Nason girls. We even played a little Junior Scrabble...which made me think of their grandmother. No one played Scrabble like Mona- I think Pete and I had been dating for maybe two months the first time she wiped the floor with me. Man, she was good.

After Steve came to pick the kiddos up, Lou and I made taco dip and got ready for the Super Bowl.

Let us not speak of it further, only to note:
  • The agony of defeat can be eased somewhat by taco dip.
  • Lou insisted upon changing the channel as the first quarter was coming to a close. (She watched A Charlie Brown Christmas upstairs instead, and was in bed before the 3rd quarter ended.)
  • Little Manning played a good game for himself. I still think his brother is a goon.
  • March Madness approaches....

Ah, Saturday

...or is it Caturday?
funny pictures

I am still sore from my display of grace and beauty yesterday. Thankfully it is a low-key weekend with not much planned. I got my hair cut this morning, we did some grocery shopping and Lou and I might do some baking later after she wakes up from her nap. Yess!

Here are some belated pictures of my fingerless mitts:

I love them. They may very well be my favorite completed project to date: challenging and fun to knit, I love the color and feel or the yarn (Classic Elite Princess in Top Turq) and I am thrilled with how they came out. Woot!

Mulling over my current projects. Both are baby sweaters I have knitted before, so I'm a bit bored. Thinking about knitting another pair of mitts, plus there's the felted market bag my mom has asked me to make....but again, repetition. I may actually take the plunge and start knitting an adult sweater, either for me or for Pete. My fingers are itching to do something new....and I can save the familiar projects for watching Lost. I'll admit it; I am hooked yet again, although I have the sinking feeling that I will hate the way it will end.

What else? Tomorrow Ella and Molly are coming for a visit, which will be fun. I have some ideas for fun things to do....Lou is really looking forward to it. Tonight is hunkering down at home, maybe a movie, maybe some Guitar Hero. I love my exciting life.

Still focused on keeping things simple. We're getting a few things done today but largely just relaxing and spending time together as a family. I found myself feeling as though I should be adding to my dreaded to-do list earlier today, and then thought, nahhh.

Lou's awake now- think I'll see what she's up to, maybe fold some laundry.

D'oh! or, I am so graceful

Rocky start today. Fridays I leave an hour earlier than usual since our office hours begin at 8. Pete brings Lou to school but I still have things I need to run around doing....and this morning I maybe should have slowed down.

It was dark in the bedroom when I grabbed my shoes, so I ended up with two left shoes (fairly ironic) and had to head back upstairs before leaving. I was carrying only one book (small, paperback), and one clog when I approached the stairs. These stairs are steep, and not carpeted.

Feet fly out from under me. Thud! bouncebouncebouncebouncebounce.....ow. I am now 3/4 of the way down. "Mama, what happened to you?" I fell down the stairs. "Why you fall?" Because I slipped. "Lou, why don't you go give Mama a hug and see if she's okay?"

"You okay Mama?" Yes, I'll be okay. I have a boo-boo on my elbow, but I'm okay. "Okay Mama. You carry me downstairs now." Sigh.

I have two giant painful bruises. One is on my elbow, and I am sure you can figure out where the other may be.
