Where did it go?

It's been a busy weekend, full of spending time with friends and family. So I consider it a success despite the fact that there's very little food, no laundry done and certainly no cleaning. There's always tomorrow (or, today).....right? Ha.

Friday night we hung out at home, which was sorely needed. It was a loooong week.

Saturday started out fairly lazy, but then we ventured out to meet Sri, Beth and the kids for lunch....just the girls and little O. We had a yummy lunch at Flatbread Co. and a visit and then headed off to run some errands.

We picked up a new collar and a tag for Jimmy the Escape Artist. He's been wearing it for two days now, and sadly, I was unable to remove the bell. At first it was kind of funny, but now I feel bad for the poor guy....he's completely unable to launch a sneak attack of any kind, since with every step....jingle jingle jingle. Now we call him Mr. Bojingles....or Jingle Cat....or Jingles....I expect before the week is over we'll have to take wire cutters to the thing (the collar, not the cat).

Saturday night we ended up taking Lou bowling with our friends the Youngs. Neither Lou nor Danielle had been bowling before, so we did candlepin. They did pretty well; Charlotte would have this spectacular approach and then gently roll the ball down the lane....and it would take about forever to get to the end and knock down one or two pins. While she waited she would jump up and down, yelling "Go ball, go! Go ball, go!" Danielle would throw her whole body into her turn, sliding around on her knees like a tiny Eddie Van Halen....
Yesterday Lou and I went out to the beach....I think it was the earliest in the year that I have been out to Rye. We went to Wallis Sands, and it was crazy windy. Made it about 1/2 hour digging in the sand before we had to head to the car.

Pete had started the boil for the latest batch of beer before we left, and was in full swing when we got back. Todd and Cindy showed up to brew, and Dan came by just to see what was up....and maybe also because his Jeep lives in our barn right now....more friends came later....and it was the first day this year of just hanging out in the yard/driveway, drinking beer and grilling. A bit cold, maybe. But it was really nice to be in the sunshine, just catching up with people and watching the Lou wear herself out. Next time we might not have to move the chairs all over the place, following the sun....

I slept really well last night. I have a little color on my face. Pete, in typical Pete fashion, got burned on the back of his neck and the tops of his feet (flip flops). Good stuff. And it's only a four-day week for me, which is also good stuff. It will be a busy four days, I'm sure, but that's totally doable. If I ever manage to get out of my pajamas today....
